A sports selection is defined by its event, measured outcome, period and exceptions. Before comparing prices, establish that both selections ask the same question; a similar team name or number is not enough.
Begin with the sport's event structure
Football and basketball organise their playing time differently. IFAB Law 7 describes football's halves and allowance for time lost, while NBA Rule 5 specifies regulation and overtime periods. Those sporting rules provide context; the terms of a selection define the settlement question.
This distinction prevents a sport's clock from being mistaken for a complete product rule. Read whether the selection concerns a period, the entire contest or another outcome such as progression through a round.
Use a comparison card
| Field | Selection One | Selection Two |
|---|---|---|
| Event | Exact teams, competition and date | The same identifiers? |
| Question | The measured result or statistic | The same measure? |
| Period | The included part of the event | The same scope? |
| Exceptions | Stated treatment of unusual cases | Equivalent conditions? |
The price belongs beside these fields, rather than replacing them. A price comparison is incomplete if one selection includes a different period or uses a different statistic.
Similar wording can conceal different scopes
An invented football example compares “Harbour to win in normal time” with “Harbour to qualify”. The same team appears in both, but the questions differ. A drawn normal-time result followed by later qualification can separate their outcomes.
An invented basketball comparison asks about all game points in one selection and only one team's points in another. Both may say total, yet their measured quantities are different. Read the complete label.
Decimal prices have a defined arithmetic role
For a hypothetical successful single selection with a fully settled decimal price, multiplying the accepted amount by that price gives the total return. At 1.75, an invented eight-unit stake returns fourteen units if successful, including the original eight.
The six-unit difference is the profit in that specified example. The calculation does not show the probability of the event or establish that a current service offers the quoted price.
Exceptions belong in the comparison
Check how a postponement, abandonment, non-participating player or corrected statistic is handled. A headline label may omit those details. They still affect what the condition means.
Do not assume that a procedure used by one provider is universal. A proper comparison preserves each product's own terms, even when that makes the summary less tidy.
Separate evidence from impression
A screen can feel fast, familiar or convenient without proving that its conditions match another screen. Describe such observations as interface observations. Do not convert them into claims about settlement speed, favourable prices or reliability without evidence.
A supplier's documentation can support a description of its product. It does not, on its own, verify i8 Live's current suppliers or account arrangements. This guide therefore avoids provider rankings and current platform promises.
Make the final note reproducible
Record the exact wording, date and source of each selection being compared. Then state the remaining differences and unanswered questions. Someone else should be able to understand the comparison without having to guess what the original screen meant.
If the conditions cannot be matched, say that the selections answer different questions. A clear unresolved comparison is more useful than a numerical conclusion built on mismatched scopes.
Common questions
Can identical team names identify identical selections?
No. The period, outcome and exceptions can differ even when the same team appears.
Does the sport's rulebook establish all settlement conditions?
No. It explains the sport. The applicable product terms define the selection's settlement.
Is a higher decimal figure automatically a better comparison?
Only compare like-for-like questions first. A different price can describe a different condition rather than an equivalent alternative.
